Playground safety should be the main factor in your project planning. The playground should resist everything the environment and children can throw at them, but still, they require the TLC to help them keep safe. When the playground is first installed, it should meet every updated standard, but daily maintenance is needed over time to make sure playground safety measures are in place.
Small nicks and gouges in the powder coating, divots in rubber, and other little imperfections are all side-effects of daily use, and exposure to elements infrequently may be the outcome of vandalism. Once or twice a year, the playground should be inspected for these minor issues. Finding these problems at an early stage can prevent further damage to your structure. Always look for damage at the welded joints where the possibility of paint is thinner. Repair damage to the metal post using the touch-up paint provided in the playground care kit. Little damage to thermoplastic coated decks can be repaired using a torch, but you may want to have an expert, who can handle the repair.
Children are always curious about new ventures. They are creative and feel delighted to decorate their favourite items. It is usual for kids to attach strings, yarn, or cord tied around bars or woven through various equipment. Unfortunately, these small pieces of art by children can get tangled with hands, fingers, and ankles. Any piece of cloth or strings should be immediately removed otherwise it can cause playground accidents. From tree roots to lost toys and broken sticks, anything that does not belong to the playground should be immediately removed as it can cause accidents.
It is very important to take some time out and inspect the entire playground safety measure. If you notice a cracked concrete, misaligned borders, and paddling away from the equipment can be a sign that your sub-base is washing away or the tree root is washing away or the tree roots may be damaging your play surface. The sooner you identify the issues the smooth and more affordable the solution will be. If the playground is near trees it is important to trim the branches and equipment should be placed at least 6-feet away to prevent any sort of accidents.
Remember that the maximum accidents on the playground are going to be from falls, so the safety surface must be maintained. Loose-fill surfacing material needs maintenance. The high used playground should be checked on a regular interval to make sure that the surfacing is not displaced from under swings and climbers or at the end of sliders. To retain the constant depth under and around the equipment a maker can be placed on the support post. To ensure safety placing attenuating mats in high-traffic areas, like under the swing and at slide exits can significantly reduce displacement. The mat is supposed to be installed below or level with surfacing so as not to create a trip hazard.
